On Thursday 2 December 2004 staff from the Mallee Health Service Inc., Kangaroo Island Health Service, Commonwealth Department of Health and Aging and Department for Families and Communities came together to further discuss Service Excellence Framework (SEF).

This pilot program was to select approximately 20 nurses who are involved in cardiovascular health in South Australia and train them to become Heart Foundation Nurse Ambassadors. In this capacity these nurses would be able to offer additional support, assistance and expertise to patients, carers and health workers and introduce the important role of the Heart Foundation throughout the community by supporting those with cardiovascular disease.
