The Mallee Health Service received funding for the provision of transport services to assist the community meet its health needs.

The funding was provided through the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing's Regional Health Service Program.
The Board of Directors of the Mallee Health Service have agreed to participate in a tender with the Passenger Transport Board in an endeavour to meet a greater level of transport need across the Mallee.
Final touches are being put to the preparation of the tender which should be advertised towards the end of September.
It is envisaged that a private operator, subsidised by the PTB and in receipt of defined health service transport needs can make a viable transport service operate across the Mallee with regular routes also being made available outside of the district.
