The Rural Chronic Disease Initiative is underway and we are looking for your input.
|
The project is looking to undertake locally driven projects in the management, early intervention and prevention of a chronic disease of interest to the local community.
A questionnaire was sent to all households recently and you are urged to return them to your local hospital as soon as possible. The project will be run across the Karoonda East Murray and Southern Mallee District Councils.
The areas under consideration include:
-
Respiratory Disease
-
Cardiac Disease
-
Injury
-
Cancer
-
Diabetes
-
Mental Health
We are also seeking to establish a Steering Committee to oversee the project, come up with ideas on how to increase knowledge and compliance with programs in the community. If you would like to be involved, please contact Marika Thiel on 8577 9222 or Laura Spencer on 8579 1111.
We will also soon be seeking nominations for Local Champions. These people will be asked to help spread the word about the project and be involved in promoting the outcomes to the community.
Funding is available to reimburse any expenses incurred for both the Local Champions and Steering Committee Members.
